The Long-Expected, Unexpected King (Jesus' entrance into Jerusalem as the King)

Passage: Matthew 21:1–21:17

The tone has escalated from the normal greeting that Jesus received and the fact that Jesus has just raised Lazarus from the dead is the reason that's the case. At that time news travelled by people spreading the word in person. Enough time has passed so that most of the city knows what has happened and many, many Jews are believing that Jesus is their Messiah. John writes that the people heard that Jesus was in the area and they began to pour into Jerusalem, knowing he would be there for the Passover. Their long-expected king has finally come!
